We were asked to improve and expand upon the existing storage facility for the wheelchair and prosthetic departments at the Bristol Centre for Enablement.  We were to provide easy and accessible storage for wheelchairs; ensuring chairs were stored safely and in the most space efficient way possible.

To provide an easier method for storing wheelchair wheels we provided new long span racking and decks in the stores, stock and accessory store areas and re-located existing shelving for re-use is some of these areas also.

We designed a mobile cantilever rack in the repair workshop to store spare wheels on – allowing the wheels to be stored by size and style and making them easy to access and move around the work area.

MS Storage were contacted by St Georges Medical Practice to discuss their storage requirement for patient medical records. As is common place within medical practices, there is an ever growing need to house patient records and space is often at a premium.  The surgery needed a shelving system that would accommodate existing medical records and provide additional storage for future use. Total requirement for storage of Lloyd George notes was in the region of 8,500 records.  Working alongside surgery staff, our team of installers were able to build up the shelving system in a very short time frame to enable the continued smooth running of the medical practice.

Will Nixon approached MS Storage to provide a complete office and warehouse fit out for their headquarters in Rushton Spencer, Macclesfield. The project involved carefully designed bespoke office furniture, conference room table and chairs and storage units, together with pallet racking within the adjoining warehouse area.

After very detailed consultations with the client over several weeks, MS designed a unique range of furniture for the offices which was made to measure to fit precisely within the client’s specification in terms of finish and appearance and the office spaces available. MS Storage won a successful tender bid with Birmingham City Council for the staff changing room facility at Lifford Lane Waste Depot.  Working alongside the main contractor and architect we were instructed to provide 227 single door wire mesh lockers for the storage of outdoor workwear.  All works carried out were done so with minimal disruption to the live site.

MS Storage were commissioned to fit out the bicycle storage and locker facility in this busy central London office block on Shaftesbury Avenue.  The lockers were entirely bespoke to fit the contractor’s brief and manufactured to fit the room dimensions.

Manufactured from solid grade laminate for a durable hard wearing finish the lockers were fixed onto matching seat and stands.  On request we added additional air vents into the locker design to work around the building’s ventilation system and increase air flow into the locker compartments.

Dumfries NHS working with Laing O’Rourke Building Contractors built a new PFI General Hospital in Dumfries, Scotland. MS Storage was approached to design and provide 3 high density mobile storage systems for the Theatre Stores within the new Hospital. Based on our detailed site surveys and based on our considerable experience for this type/style of storage.

MS Storage designed 3 unique mobile storage systems incorporating both standard shelving together with HTM71 basket storage within each of the Theatre Store areas.

The designs also had to meet exacting clinical infection control criteria for these crucial areas and also provide adequate storage capacity and storage flexibility by utilising both shelving and HTM71 tray systems within the mobile units.

Following on from Dumfries many NHS Trusts have now adopted similar storage solutions to meet the ever increasing demand for storage space within the Theatres stores area.

MS Storage were asked to design a storage solution within a basement area with restricted height and other issues together with very severe access problems in order to help facilitate an off ice move for the company of over 300 staff whose items needed to be contained securely within the new basement archive whilst the move took place.

From initial call to completion the project took only 3 weeks to complete. MS Storage designed and installed a high density mobile shelving system within the basement location taking into account several design issues around low ceilings, radiators, air conditioning ducting and very uneven concrete floor. The project was completed to the great satisfaction of the client who was delighted with the finished storage solution and enabled the move of 300 staff to take place on time.

An additional benefit our modular systems provides to our clients we later retro fitted steel lockable doors at the end users request, to individual storage bays to allow complete security to sensitive materials held within the storage system whilst still allowing staff access to non-sensitive material contained within the same storage system.

Royal Derby Hospital introduced a programme to update and improve the ward storage areas located within the main Hospital. MS Storage were consulted as an approved NHS Supply Chain supplier to work with the Hospital to provide design solutions for each of the 22 ward storage areas spread over 4 floors of the main Hospital for consideration. MS Storage firstly detailed the existing storage in each location, discussed problems with the existing stock methods and systems to try and design the new system to eradicate these issues.

The solution was to design in an HTM71 Stock Control System together with static open shelving. The designs were thoroughly discussed with end users prior to installation to ensure the staff had been fully briefed on the new storage system and how it worked prior to installation within the Hospital. The new system, greatly improved stock rotation (use by dates), stock was easy to locate, kept neat and tidy and therefore greatly improved ward efficiency by reducing the time spent by staff retrieving stock items.

The final logistics problem to solve was how to install the new system whilst the Wards were fully operational. Working closely with the Estates team, Purchasing and the Ward Housekeepers all 22 areas were installed with the new system under an agreed scheduled programme of works.
Spread over 4 floors and 4 weeks the project was completed without a single issue and without a single patient’s treatment being disrupted which was the main focus of attention.

MS Storage were consulted after a long and exhaustive Tender process to design arrange of bespoke storage solutions for the newly refurbished John Sackler building with the prestigious Royal College of Art based in Kensington, West London.

After working closely with the college staff and the architects, MS Storage designed and provided unique storage for a unique hammer collection so this could be displayed to the students and visitors, together with bespoke Kiln Trolleys and a range of heavy duty Long Span shelving cushioned to provide safe storage for delicate pottery casts and other delicate items.

A world famous sportswear retailer, approached MS Storage to design and supply a stock room shelving system that had a minimum 70% water permeability to for a new stockroom area at their UK headquarters. Due to the flammable nature of the products stored and the potential toxic gases that could be omitted should a fire break out, the clients Insurers insisted the new shelving system must be at least 70% water permeable for it to be installed into the new stock room.

MS Storage set about designing a unique static steel shelving system which went over and above the client’s specification and fully complied with the insurers requirements. Over 1300 bays of static shelving, providing 33,450 individual stock locations was successfully designed and installed over a 3 week period to a strict timetable to meet the opening date of the new facility.

The shelving whilst allowing the 70% permeability had to still retain its strength and flexibility and overall durability. The shelving system can be made in any sizes to suit any stock items or areas and is easily adjustable, available as static shelving or can be supplied on high density mobile bases.
