We were asked to improve and expand upon the existing storage facility for the wheelchair and prosthetic departments at the Bristol Centre for Enablement.  We were to provide easy and accessible storage for wheelchairs; ensuring chairs were stored safely and in the most space efficient way possible.

To provide an easier method for storing wheelchair wheels we provided new long span racking and decks in the stores, stock and accessory store areas and re-located existing shelving for re-use is some of these areas also.

We designed a mobile cantilever rack in the repair workshop to store spare wheels on – allowing the wheels to be stored by size and style and making them easy to access and move around the work area.

The world famous Moor fields Eye Hospital in central London opened a new building specifically for the care of children’s eyes. As part of this building a central patient’s records area was created within the basement of the building.

MS Storage designed and installed a high density mobile shelving system for records which provided the maximum storage capacity possible within the floor space provided. Designed in conjunction with the Medical Records staff, the system whilst providing high density storage allowed staff to quickly and effectively retrieve and replace records.

The system accommodates well over 100,000 records within a central location. The project had to overcome several design issues, from low ceiling height’s to air conditioning ducting throughout the area which we overcame with isometric pitching of the shelving bays.

After the success of the initial installation (2400bays of static and mobile shelving) , MS Storage were approached again by Plymouth NHS Trust to add additional storage to a new extension on site. To achieve the required capacity a mezzanine floor was installed along with 762 bays of static and mobile shelving.

The logistics of the installation were paramount to the smooth running of the whole hospital project. Working alongside a main contractor we were able to meet the client’s requirements in line with all DDA and Building regulations to the agreed costs and time frames.

MS Storage were tasked with providing a new Medical Records library containing 2.4 km of steel shelving for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.  Based at Bush Park, Estover, Plymouth brought together the records management of the Primary Care Trust and Plymouth Hospitals Records service into one central location. The Library contains 2,000 bays of mobile and static shelving housing up to 1,000,000 individual Patient Records. The system was carefully designed utilising both the existing and new shelving, which was dismantled and re installed onto mobile bases. This increased the storage capacity of the existing library by a massive 62 per cent.

Working in close cooperation with NHS staff, the records were still made available for use 24/7 during the installation programme, which was completed in agreed phases over a 4 month period.

MS Storage first began work on site at the new MRI Manchester Hospital in 2006, initially supplying the Renal Department with staff lockers.

As a result, MS Storage were then chosen as the preferred partner for the supply of lockers and shelving, including stainless steel, HTM71, on-site medical records and high density mobile storage where required.

Since then we have worked our way throughout the new site supplying all wards / departments with lockers, shelving and storage solutions. Working closely with the site contractors, Bovis Lendlease, we have now completed all major installations and the site was officially opened to the public in 2009. MS Storage is still on hand to provide full after sales service and further product lines.
