MS Storage were contacted by St Georges Medical Practice to discuss their storage requirement for patient medical records. As is common place within medical practices, there is an ever growing need to house patient records and space is often at a premium.  The surgery needed a shelving system that would accommodate existing medical records and provide additional storage for future use. Total requirement for storage of Lloyd George notes was in the region of 8,500 records.  Working alongside surgery staff, our team of installers were able to build up the shelving system in a very short time frame to enable the continued smooth running of the medical practice.

MS Storage were asked to design a storage solution within a basement area with restricted height and other issues together with very severe access problems in order to help facilitate an off ice move for the company of over 300 staff whose items needed to be contained securely within the new basement archive whilst the move took place.

From initial call to completion the project took only 3 weeks to complete. MS Storage designed and installed a high density mobile shelving system within the basement location taking into account several design issues around low ceilings, radiators, air conditioning ducting and very uneven concrete floor. The project was completed to the great satisfaction of the client who was delighted with the finished storage solution and enabled the move of 300 staff to take place on time.

An additional benefit our modular systems provides to our clients we later retro fitted steel lockable doors at the end users request, to individual storage bays to allow complete security to sensitive materials held within the storage system whilst still allowing staff access to non-sensitive material contained within the same storage system.

MS Storage have a long established trading history with West Midlands Police, so when Stechford Police Station required staff lockers and property store shelving, naturally MS were first on hand.

Various areas of the police station required bespoke storage to accommodate an array of items including drug storage, property stores, staff changing lockers and tape storage. Each area was surveyed and layouts were created to provide maximum storage.

Goods were installed over an agreed schedule to ensure minimum disruption to the Police Station. Our installation teams are security cleared under the West Midlands Police abbreviated vetting system

The world famous Moor fields Eye Hospital in central London opened a new building specifically for the care of children’s eyes. As part of this building a central patient’s records area was created within the basement of the building.

MS Storage designed and installed a high density mobile shelving system for records which provided the maximum storage capacity possible within the floor space provided. Designed in conjunction with the Medical Records staff, the system whilst providing high density storage allowed staff to quickly and effectively retrieve and replace records.

The system accommodates well over 100,000 records within a central location. The project had to overcome several design issues, from low ceiling height’s to air conditioning ducting throughout the area which we overcame with isometric pitching of the shelving bays.

After the success of the initial installation (2400bays of static and mobile shelving) , MS Storage were approached again by Plymouth NHS Trust to add additional storage to a new extension on site. To achieve the required capacity a mezzanine floor was installed along with 762 bays of static and mobile shelving.

The logistics of the installation were paramount to the smooth running of the whole hospital project. Working alongside a main contractor we were able to meet the client’s requirements in line with all DDA and Building regulations to the agreed costs and time frames.

MS Storage were tasked with providing a new Medical Records library containing 2.4 km of steel shelving for Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.  Based at Bush Park, Estover, Plymouth brought together the records management of the Primary Care Trust and Plymouth Hospitals Records service into one central location. The Library contains 2,000 bays of mobile and static shelving housing up to 1,000,000 individual Patient Records. The system was carefully designed utilising both the existing and new shelving, which was dismantled and re installed onto mobile bases. This increased the storage capacity of the existing library by a massive 62 per cent.

Working in close cooperation with NHS staff, the records were still made available for use 24/7 during the installation programme, which was completed in agreed phases over a 4 month period.

Barnsley Metropolitan District Council selected MS Storage to supply a high-density mobile shelving system into the new county archive building at Shortwood Villas, Barnsley. MS Storage designed the scheme to match the Councils exact requirement and the footprint of the new building.

The system provides a total of 1,093 bays of shelving, which will be used to house the County Records centrally in one location. The archive was designed in close consultation with the Council Property and Procurement Department and the Council Archivists team to comply with a detailed and stringent specification. The end result is complete client satisfaction with the design, appearance and operation of the new shelving system.

Designed using strong robust shelving and precision engineered mobile bases, the system will provide the Council with a modern, state of the art high density mobile storage system for the safe and proper storage of these vital county records for years to come.
